Procedures - Cosmelan
What is Cosmelan®?
Cosmelan®? is a depigmentation treatment base on the inhibition of tyrosinase, a basic enzyme in the melanin formation process. Several of the substances, Kojic acid being the primary active ingredient, act by blocking this enzyme, or even by inverting the metabolic process of the transformation chain. Its principal action is the elimination of melanin patches on the face (melasma and chloasma).
What the treatment involves:
Cosmelan® depigmentation treatment consist of two phases. For the first phase, a degreaser lotion is applied over the entire face excluding eyelids followed by the Cosmelan® 1*. Clients will need to leave the masque on for a specific number of hours as advised by the doctor and will need to go home with the masque on. Once the appropriate duration has elapsed, the masque is to be washed off with a gentle cleanser and water only. This is to be followed by the application of the Hydra factor-k cream.
The second phase is also known as the home maintenance phase. Clients will need to apply the Cosmelan® 2 and Hydra factor-K cream as advised by the doctor for a period of one month.

After the treatment:
There may be slight flaking of the skin after the treatment. Do not pull, tear or force peeling by rubbing or scratching. Allow the repairing process to happen naturally. Do not use exfoliating cleaners or mechanical exfoliating devices or any other chemical exfoliating agents. Do not use any facial produces with AHA and/or Acid blends, simultaneously with Cosmelan® treatments. Do avoid direct sun exposure for long hours.
De-pigmentation results is noticeable within 4 weeks of the treatment.
