What is Face Threadlift?

Face Threadlift is a minimally invasive procedure that can be performed to address sagging skin, lines and wrinkles on the face and neck. The procedure involves the strategic placement of bio-absorbable ‘threads’ underneath the skin to lift and tighten it, restoring one’s youthful facial contours.

This treatment lifts and firms the skin through two synergistic actions. Firstly, the skin is lifted immediately by ‘cones’ which can be found along the threads as soon as the treatment is carried out. Thereafter, the polylactic acid which the threads are made of stimulates collagen production. This action, which continues over time, helps restore firmness to the face. Results can last up to 18 months.

What the treatment involves:

The procedure takes about 30 minutes. Local anesthesia is injected into the treated area and the thread(s) is then placed underneath the skin using a fine needle. The thread(s) is held in place underneath the skin by the resorbable cones which allow the treated area to be contoured and lifted. Depending on the needs of each individual, 2 to 4 threads is used during the procedure. There is no need for these threads to be removed as components used are natural and fully absorbable. Polylactic acid or PLA which the threads are made of has been used for many years in various pharmaceutical and medical applications such as suture thread, orthopaedic pins, screws and nails for bone fractures. It is also used in new biodegradable stent trials.
